i'm so excited mod*mom is in the sunday new york times style section!!!

i'm so thrilled + honored to be included in their coverage of female bloggers becoming more influential + successful (thank you kara!) (full article here)

plus, martha producers just sent
my martha stewart living podcast (it's my very 1st podcast i've been on + so exciting to talk with martha's style genius pal about an eco-friendly product i love). they had to edit out 20 minutes of us chatting about martha + more ways to decorate with flor.

also, i'm invited to cover the emmy awards in september, so i get to interview + photograph actors, mostly with kids/babies, so that should be fun + exciting! they asked me for my favorite children's products, so i'm compiling a list. so far i've told them bloom + boon. do you have any product suggestions or questions you want me to ask your favorite telev ision actors who are parents or eco-conscious?

Wow, congratulations! You're gonna be so famous!!! Please say hi to all the celebs at the Emmy's for us!

Whoo Hoo! How fantastic!

The podcast will be on their site and maybe on the Martha site, I heard.

I just read the article a little bit ago and laughed! I had no idea who you were talking to when I so abruptly interrupted you on the stairs.

Here's my take:

You rock, sister. :)

I just found you through the NYT story and am excited to dig into your blog.
As for great children's products, my can't live withouts are the Bumbo seat, Bjorn carrier, the CD "Now the Day is Over" by the Innocence Mission, and the book "Leonardo the Terrible Monster" by Mo Willems. There are others, but I'll stop there.
Congrats on the publicity.

Congrats! We've all known how fab you are, but now even more people will get to know this fact; )
Kids products we love in this house? the Adiri Natural Nurser bottle (http://adiri.com/) and The Terrible Twos cd "If You Ever See an Owl" (http://cdbaby.com/cd/terribletwos). Anyone who hears this album gives it 11 out of 10 stars!
Can't wait to read the article: )

Way to go celeb

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7/27/2008 7:03 AM

how fun! I saw the article yesterday and saw that Amy (Mum) was in there as well. Congrats.

I would have to throw in Barefoot Books for their cultural responsibility. :)

ow exciting! I listened to the podcast while making dinner on Friday and it was great. You're right - the quality was only so-so, but I liked it and wished they hadn't cut if off as the conversation seemed to relax and was getting interesting.

I'm not going to look at the NY Times link - I'll wait for my paper tomorrow and will skip my OCD method of working through the paper in a strict order so this way I can see the Style section first thing when I wake up.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7/27/2008 7:13 AM

congrats! you are famous!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7/27/2008 7:14 AM

You are becoming famous, you mom designer/skate/mom you! Thanks for sharing w/ us. It's unfortunate that the sound quality was difficult on the podcast, but even through that, I could hear your level of professionalism. And being quoted in the NY Times was very cool. Keep it up and I'll be sure to get your autograph next time I see you in person!

Oh com'on you ARE kind of famous, aren't you?
its amazing how a hobby can be a commercial venture - but your blog is fun and honest - maybe thats a big key

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7/27/2008 7:16 AM

congrats kristen!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7/27/2008 7:17 AM

Kristen--

Wow -- your life is MUCH more exciting than ours! We've just been catching up on post-wedding stuff, and getting back to our normal lives, which means I'm once again looking into teaching credential programs, since the application process is just around the corner. Today I decided I may as well go ahead and take the GRE again, so I'm lining up another few weeks of crash studying, oh joy...

Your interview sounds great (I'm listening to it now)! You came across as very well prepared -- asking leading questions so that the guest could talk freely, and also responding to things he said with follow-up ideas and questions. Although he seemed to chatter more than give specifics, at least to me -- he used words like beautiful, creative, wonderful, etc. a LOT. Give me details!

Anyway, I think it went very well -- congratulations! And good luck with the Emmy's!

--Danny

PS. Do you use anything like Twitter? I'm checking it out -- kinda fun!

You are by far, the biggest, best mom-blogger I know (many of the "mommy bloggers" on Twitter may not appreciate that honesty). You deserve all of the attention you get - from both companies and readers. Congratulations, Mod*Mom!

By Blogger Gradon, at 7/28/2008 7:45 AM

Hi, Kristen. Congrats on the NYTs article. I just read it this morning and found it inspiring. I believe people like you will help smash through the glass ceiling. Thank you!

That's cool!!!! Good for you!!!!!
What did you do with the K_Y Jelly?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7/28/2008 11:22 PM

Wow! What an awesome giveaway! We are moving (yet again...grrr) and I will lose a carpeted area for the kids! Although i would love this in the dinning room or my bedroom or even the living room it would probabbly do more good for my 15 month old to play on. I really like the brook needlepoint stripe. Thanks again for the chance.

By Blogger aimee, at 7/29/2008 11:28 AM

WOW Amazing!! Keep me informed! I might post about your interviews and the stars goodies!!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7/29/2008 4:26 PM
